Hello!

My name is Margo, I’m the world’s worst farmers wife and daughter and keep bringing rescue animals to the farm much to OH’s horror (one example - I went to Greenacres for 4 chickens and came back with the chickens and a horse!). We have two children (ok they’re 21 and 18 years old- I know – it doesn’t look possible). We live at Lochmeyler Farm, near Llandeloy – smack bang in the middle of Fishguard, Haverfordwest and St Davids.

My background

I’ve always knitted since I was a little girl – taught by Grannie, Mum and Bella (Bella’s Wool Shop in Letterston). I tried to teach myself crochet after having children but failed miserably (hats off to all of you who managed to teach yourselves). The lovely Sue Rees from Narberth taught me and as corny as it sounds – I was hooked.
My background is art (Pembrokeshire College) and textiles (Nottingham Trent University) – but I never did anything with it – so I can’t tell you how lovely it is to finally be doing something I love, and I have my neighbour, Libbie to thank for that. She suggested I teach crochet – I knew I could crochet but didn’t know if I could actually teach it. Two years ago I put a shout out for some guinea pigs to do a trial class of 10 lessons – free – to see if I could teach them. In return they had to be complete beginners and give me feedback. I ended up with a mix of friends, family and strangers. What a start – I loved it and it turned out that I managed to teach every single one of them!

I’ve now taught 6 classes and absolutely love it! To see people go from not being able to hold a hook to designing and making their own clothes in a matter of months, making beautiful heirloom pieces for their family members – it’s really, really emotional for me and I have made so many beautiful friends through it. The beginners graduates now come to a ‘drop in’ class where they bring their own projects and help each other out – I’m just there to make tea and cake for them I think – and they’ve even come when I’m not there!
The summer show season kicks off soon – I’ll be at Fishguard Show is on the 2nd August and the County Show on the 14th and 15th August – they are always so special. There’s also something else I’ve been asked to do this year which will be a first for me, more on that again.

That’s all for now - Happy Hooking – Margo xxx
